Madhur Sen
Having specialized in sculpture, I graduated from Delhi College of Arts in 1986. Since then I have been pursuing ceramics to date. I try to use aspects from both Sculpture and Pottery to develop new forms of expression. Experimenting with newer ways to deploy animal and human forms particularly interest me. I combine techniques of throwing (wheel work) and clay modeling to develop my subject matter. Using high temperature safe color glazes and slips I try to find the delicate balance between form and content without losing spontaneity and workability. I have had many Solo and group shows in India and abroad. Recognition of my work has enabled me to conduct various workshops and give lectures in Spain and Japan. Recently I was the artist in Residence for a program in Japan-Kanayama. Other than that my work has been part of various exhibitions and in private collections in Pakistan, Argentina, Spain, France, Hong Kong, Japan and in different parts of India. I Have taught ceramic art in a Design institute for several years. Presently I am working and teaching from my own studio in New Delhi.
